The Lost Tape Review
We first got word on a Gangsta Grillz mixtape in 08 when Grimey dropped it was suppose to be a G-unit tape but it never came out. Four years later its finally here only as a 50 mixtape. Ill go through each track and tell you my opinion on them and rate it as a whole in the end.
1.) Get Busy ft. Kidd Kidd (Produced by 45 Music) - The beat goes hard nothing special but a nice beat for 50 to flow on. 50 did his thing flowing nice on it and killing the hook as usual. Another wack Kidd Kidd verse i don't understand what 50 sees in him. Not a lot of quotable's but my favorite line is "He rap I rap but we aint the same we love a game ill run a train" (Beat 4/5 Hook 5/5 Lyrics 3.5/5 Overall 4/5
2.) Double Up - Tone Mason ft. Hayes (Produced by Tone Mason) - Song has a smooth beat 50 again goes in. His flow is perfect in his verse. Another hook that 50 kills showing again why hes one of the best hook writers in hip hop. The track features Hayes he does his thing sounds like a young hungry artist and it that fits perfect in this song. Favorite line "If I want the hoe I get the hoe fuck the hoe than forget the hoe let a hoe be hoe pay a pimp pay the rent" (Beat 5/5 Hook 5/5 Lyrics 5/5 Overall 5/5)
3.) Murder One ft. Eminem (Produced by Araab Muzik) - Don't be fooled by "Featuring Eminem" he says about 10 words in the intro. 50 starts the song off with his slick talk which is top notch like always. Kinda disappointed to see this song on here being that its a few months old but its still fire. 50 still has the gangsta shit in him its what hes best at and he shows it in this grimy track. Araab kills the beat like always. Nothing really to say other than 50 still can make that grimy gangsta shit. Favorite lines "Doctor came in said you got germs man from touchin to much muthafuckin money" "Niggas be frontin word up they stuntin till they hurt up that semi talk ill let it buck I had these niggas runnin hard" "Niggas drop like dominoes run for ya life puta si vamonos" " Ive been talkin to the man in the mirror niggas so ass they was shaking like Shakira" (Beat 4/5 Hook 5/5 Lyrics 5/5 Overall 4.5/5)
4.) Riot Remix ft. 2 Chainz (Produced by DJ Spinz) - 50 hops on the popular 2 Chainz song Riot and kills it. He always does great on southern beats they are made for him.Only thing i wish is that he would have more time on the song he raps for about a minute all together. I am really looking forward more 50 and 2 Chainz tracks (just not on 50s album) Favorite line "I put ya bitch face in my lap 2 2 3s all in my strap count my paper all of them stack" (Beat 5/5 Hook 2/5 Lyrics 3.5/5 Overall 3.5/5)
5.) O.J. ft. Kidd Kidd (Produced by Mike Will) - When I first heard this song i was kinda disappointed. I honestly hated it just because i seen Kidd Kidd on another track. They get on Gucci and Futures Cant Turn Me Down. Not a bad track overall. 50 with another great hook. The beat is kinda simple its produced by Mike Will same person who produced Girls Go Wild you can hear the similarities in the beat. Favorite Line "Got a new bitch thats so bad Yeah she dont know what she doin And her ass so round and fat When she touch me im like booing I want head and i want tails so i dont want to flip a coin" (Beat 3/5 Hook 5/5 Lyrics 4/5 Overall 3.5/5)
6.) I Aint Gonna Lie ft. Robbie Nova (Produced by G Sparkz) - Another track 50 starts off slick talk which is great like always. This track is for smooth. Robbie Nova kills the hook basically saying what all guys think "I just want to fuck you girl" instead of taking them out shopping and to the movies they just want to hit. 50 goes in flowing perfectly in this song. 50 always excels when it comes it making these tracks and its no different here. Favorite Lines "Im just gonna remind you you shoe shining ass niggas If it wasnt for me you niggas would be in the train station shining shoes Now you niggas rap Want to hand a nigga a mixtape im the reason you handin a nigga a mixtape you punk ass nigga dont give your muthafuckin tape" "Got a hot wheel fetish I pull up in some mean shit Sex Drugs Rock and Roll Charlie Sheen bitch" (Beat 5/5 Hook 5/5 Lyrics 4/5 Overall 4.5/5)
7.) Complicated (Produced by Chris Teeb) - Another old track that 50 throw on here which i really hated to see. This track is cool though. 50 disses Drake in the original version of this song but took it out. You getting soft 50? He did leave the little Ross shot in there still though. The hook is terrible one of the worst 50 hooks ever. Beat is cool nice melodic beat. Favorite Line "You had a nice gimmick you been hot a few summers but i got the kinda flow that can stop world hunger SK i got nothing but energy" (Beat 4/5 Hook 1.5/5 Lyrics 4/5 Overall 3.5/5)
8.) You A Killer..Cool (Produced by 8track) - Crime Wave Pt.2? "Yeah Yeah Yeah" This song bumps hard. Real nice hard track sounding like classic 50. I don't get how anyone can say 50 fell off hes been putting out tracks like this since Get Rich or Die Tryin. Flows fast through this beat smoothly. Beat fits him perfectly. Another great hook from him. Nothing to complain about in this song. Favorite line "Blow open ya head Make ya brain a landmark Put what ya thinkin on the curb Nigga mark my word" (Beat 5/5 Hook 4/5 Lyrics 4/5 Overall 4/5)
9.) Remain Calm ft. Snoop Dogg, Precious Paris (Produced by Kon Hathaway) - 50 and Snoop!! oh and Paris. 50 and Snoop kill this track. I don't know why they don't do more tracks they have classics together. The beat is real nice. You'll catch yourself bobbin your head to it. Snoop goes in wish he would do more tracks like this and not with Wiz or Katy Perry. I would say something about Paris but I really don't like female rappers and I still haven't heard her verse shout out to @BigBigGuy for that. Favorite Line "I still Remain Calm bang and drop bombs Collar popped up as cool as the Fonz" (Beat 4/5 Hook 5/5 Lyrics 4/5 Overall 4/5)
10.) Cant Help Myself (Produced by Slimm Gemm) - I love this song. There is not one thing wrong with it at all. Album quality track. Slow beat slow flow classic grimy 50. Great hook fits perfect with the sample. The beat is made for 50 I don't think anyone else could have done better. For some reason it reminds me of The Reunion by Bad Meets Evil I don't know if its the slowed tempo or what. Anyway classic 50 here. Favorite line "I dont fuck with them niggas from her project They on Section 8 but niggas cars is straight They aint out in the daytime Them niggas roaches I dont stop down there if I aint got the toaster" (Beat 5/5 Hook 5/5 Lyrics 5/5 Overall 5/5)
11.) When I Pop The Trunk ft. Kidd Kidd (Produced by Illmind) - Man this track goes in. It reminds me of I Don't Need Em off the Massacre. The beat is tough Illmind is a great producer. Kidd Kidd still sounds like a whiny little girl rapping. 50 goes in on the hook. I wish he would have done both verse. 50 has to stop wasting good music with Kidd Kidd. Favorite line "Guns ammo knife Rambo Nightmare wake up im right there Youre hell bound hell yeah" (Beat 5/5 Hook 5/5 Lyrics 4/5 Overally 4.5/5)
12.) Planet 50 ft. Jeremih (Produced by Swiff D) - One of my favorite songs of the tape. Should have saved it for the album. I played this in my car I felt i was driving a drop top Porsche. Its a soft beat. Complete opposite of Girls Go Wild. Songs about what it would be like if you were a girl in 50s world. 50 hook on this song is just incredible. Jeremih have background vocals on the song no verse which is ok the song is perfect. Only thing I wish is that it had one more verse. Favorite line "This a ghetto fairytail Ill be ya Knight in shining armor Retro Jordans Gazelles and leather bombers Bright lights city life Ill show you around New York a bit From hot dogs and pretzels to the expensive shit" (Beat 5/5 Hook 5/5 Lyrics 5/5 Overall 5/5)
13.) Swag Level (Produced by Dready) - 50 with a club track with this one. I dont get why he cant make a great club joint anymore. This is decent but its not the 50 club tracks we use to get. Before I Self Destruct had ok ones and The Big 10 had some good ones but nothing classic. I know this is just a mixtape and he might be saving the best stuff for the album but even for a mixtape the hook is nothing special its catchy that's all. The beat isnt bad it goes hard. Not saying its a terrible song just and average club song. Favorite line "I blow bread nigga heavy bread It was RIP to BIG now Heavy dead Now all the fat bitches askin whats up with me Their over weight lover gone now they want to fuck with me" (Beat 4/5 Hook 2/5 Lyrics 3/5 Overall 3.5/5)
14.) Lay Down (Smoked) ft. Ned The Wino (Produced by Jake Uno) - I love this track if he would have said this was a Massacre leftover I would have believed him. Smooth slowed down beat. Classic gangsta 50 on this song. Flows nicely over the beat. Hook is nicely done. Favorite Lines "Shit shift all a sudden You can Box my box cutter as i proceed cuttin" "I got a temper you dont want to test my patience And end up Docs new patient Stomp ya head on the pavement Try to come to me on some brave shit" (Beat 4/5 Hook 5/5 Lyrics 4/5 Overall 4/5)
15.) All His Love (Produced by Illmind) - 50 threw on another old track but this track really goes hard. One of my favorite 50 hooks. 50 with his best Too Short impression with the word "Bitch". I really like the beat Illmind did his thing again him and 50 make good music. 50 as he did all through the tape killed his verse. He does his usually slick talk at the end of the track and even ends it with a "G-g-g-g G-unit" which we haven't heard in a while. Favorite line "Look bitch this is my life Im on some different shit Every different day I wake up to play with a different bitch Bitches love me just like I love me Fat bitch skinny bitch short bitch tall bitch Wanna buy me shit Meet me at the mall bitch" (Beat 5/5 Hook 5/5 Lyrics 5/5 Overall 5/5)
Well it took long enough for 50's Gangsta Grillz but it was sure worth the wait. Another classic 50 mixtape. If there was anything I could change is get Kidd Kidd the hell out of here Fif he sounds like a whiny grade school Kidd. Disapointed Banks wasn't on another tape really don't get it even Yayo wasn't on it. Id take Yayo over Kidd Kidd any day. I hope he isnt on the album like he was on this tape it would be terrible and might be the first album I don't buy from 50 if hes on all these songs ruining classics. Well classic 50 definitely download and iPod worthy.
